Winter festivals, fairs and conferences

With the widespread release of Covid-19 vaccines, organizers of publishing conferences and book fairs have moved forward with scheduling in-person events for much of 2022. Now, however, concerns about the omicron variant of Covid-19 have already caused some date lag. and a few meetings going in person to online. Indeed, last week, the American Booksellers Association announced that it was canceling its plans to hold its Winter Institute 2022 in Cincinatti from February 13 to 16 and announced that it would announce new plans for the event soon.

The organizers of two other big events, the Jaipur Literature Festival in Jaipur, India, and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, still hope to proceed in person. In the case of Bologna, this would be the first in-person show since 2019. “After Frankfurt in October, I was very confident that we would be able to host our event live and in person,” a said Elena Pasoli, responsible for the show. of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. “But with this new variant, we don’t know what’s going to happen. Two years in a row without a meeting has already been very difficult. Although we’ve had two successful virtual events, we all know it’s not the same as meeting face to face. “
