Huskers third after day two at Bearcat Roto Grip Open

Fairview, Ill. – The Nebraska bowling team went 3-1 Saturday at the Bearcat Roto Grip Open bringing its record to 6-3 for the first two days of the tournament. Going into the final day of competition, the Huskers sit in third place with a total of 9,733.

The Huskers, who are third in the NTCA poll, won against Tusculum (927-830), Upper Iowa (989-894) and Lincoln Memorial (1,035-1,022) as well as a BYE round where the Huskers won a total of 1,010 bowling pins. . The Huskers suffered just one loss to No. 25 Newman (929-1,030).

Three Huskers are currently in the top 25 of the individual standings after today’s traditional five games. First-year student Jillian Martin is seventh with a fall of 1,051. Senior Kendyl Hofmeister is in 17th (986) and Crystal Elliott is 22nd (954).

The Big Red will resume play tomorrow for the third and final day of the tournament at 8:30 a.m. (CT) against No. 15 Maryville in the traditional format.

The results from Friday and Saturday as well as the traditional single game on Sunday morning will determine the seeding for Sunday’s championship bracket. During this championship tournament, each team will face off in a four-on-seven Baker-style match starting immediately after the traditional first round.
