Deploy the love of bowling with buddies

Donna Garfield, Jack Shapiro, Mark Weiner of the Rick Kahen Commission for Residents With Disabilities of Buffalo Grove, and Steve Balinski of the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove attended “Bowling with Buddies” in Buffalo Grove.

With a Halloween theme, the Rick Kahen Commission for Residents with Disabilities (RKCRD), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove and Bowlero, hosted residents with special needs at the “Bowling with Buddies” event on October 20 at the Bowlero in Buffalo Bosquet.

The bowling alley was closed to the public and reserved for participants, and bowling and dinner were free for participants. “Buddy”—Rotary Club volunteers—were on hand to help attendees as needed. At the end of the evening, all the bowlers received trophies.

This was the fourth Bowling with Buddies event, the first held in 2018 with 34 participants.

The purpose of RKCRD is to assess the needs and concerns of citizens with disabilities and to cooperate with the village and all other government entities in promoting quality of life issues for persons with disabilities.

In addition to Bowling with Buddies, the RKCRD annually hosts Buddy Baseball and Fun & Food events during Buffalo Grove Days.

The RKCRD meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Buffalo Grove Village Hall, 50 Raupp Blvd.
