Here are some local high school sports recaps of Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Girls Basketball: Marathon vs. Candor

The Lady Olympians Marathon defeated Candor with a score of 52-30 to improve to an overall record of 5-2 on Tuesday night.

The Olympians were led by Brooke Tillotson (21 points) and Abigail Ensign (19 points).

Candor was led by Brooke Wilcox (10 points) and Pearl Ricardo (9 points).

The next Marathon match will be at the “Miss Holiday Hustle Tournament” to be held in Marathon on Tuesday December 28th. The first round of the varsity tournament will start at 5:30 p.m., while the first round of the JV tournament will start at 1:30 p.m.

Boys’ College Basketball: Marathon vs. Candor

The Marathon Olympians lost a tough game to Candor at home with a score of 34-52.

With this loss, the Olympians are now 2-4.

According to Marathon head coach Jim Holland, “Candor used a second defensive half pressure to pass Marathon in the third quarter.

Marathon was led by Conor Holland (20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals) and Braeden Morrison (4 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists).

Candor was led by Will Zimer (18 points) and Zach Watson (15 points).

Then, the Olympians will face Groton on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.

College Boys’ Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. DeRuyter

The Cincinnatus Lions broke DeRuyter’s 39-game winning streak after beating them 52-42 on Tuesday night.

With the win, the Lions now hold an overall record of 5-1.

Cincinnatus was led by Scott Schuyler (21 points), Tyler Liddle (11 points) and Kooper Vosburg (10 points).

DeRuyter was led by Gavin Richardson (26 points) and Andrew Glisson (7 points).

The Lion’s next match will be against Poland as part of the “Sports Boosters Holiday Tournament” which will take place on Tuesday, December 28 at the Lycée Fabius-Pompey. Cincinnatus’ game against Poland is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

College Boys’ Basketball: McGraw vs. Brookfield

The McGraw Eagles beat Brookfield on the road with a score of 50-33.

The Eagles were led by Quentin Burdick (18 points), Caleb Epp (11 points) and Nate Stiles (8 points).

Brookfield was led by Quentin Moon (23 points) and Kaden Ondrako (5 points).

With the win, the Eagles improved to an overall record of 2-3.

Next, the Eagles face Faith Heritage at home on Tuesday, December 28.

College Boys’ Basketball: Cortland vs. Fowler

The Cortland Purple Tigers won a tight overtime game against Fowler with a score of 68-61 to improve their overall record to 4-1.

Cortland was led by Max Gambitta (24 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals), Tyler Blake (16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals) and Marvin Bell (18 points and 10 rebounds) .

Fowler was led by Spencer Wellington (24 points) and Kevin Alvarez (11 points).

The Tigers’ next game is against Dryden in the first round of the “Cortland Holiday Tournament” on Wednesday December 29th. The tournament will take place at Cortland Jr / Sr High School. Cortland’s game against Dryden is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Varsity Girls Bowling: Homer vs. Chittenango

The Homer Lady Trojans beat Chittenango 7-0 on Tuesday night.
