Youngstown State’s ninth-ranked bowling team won its first two bracket games on Sunday and posted its best result ever at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
The Penguins started the day 11th in the 33-team field, and they beat Lincoln Memorial and Nebraska to improve their head-to-head record to 10-2 in the tournament, which was their last tournament competition. the regular season. YSU then fell 3-0 to Louisiana Tech, but won the next three games in the Baker best-seven format to force a seventh game. Youngstown State’s previous best finish in the tournament was 11th, and the Penguins tied the school record for most head-to-head wins in a tournament with 10.

Against No. 7 Louisiana Tech, the Penguins suffered a three-pin loss in Game 1, then dropped the next two games to trail 3-0.
